International podiums for a sunny Transjurassienne !

This week-end, between Lamoura and Prémanon, every sign showed success : sun on our Jura Mountains, firm and bright snow, smiling participants despite a demanding course, a cheering audience and motivated volunteers. On Saturday, 800 participants raced in classic technique the Transju’Classic, the MiniTrans or the Trans’Promotion. Among them, about 400 foreigners participated, representing 23 nations.
On the Transju’Classic, Stanislav Rezac won and two other racers from Czech Republic joined him on the podium, Novotny & Slechta. Florence Marguet (US Autrans) won before Vellut (La Feclaz) & the norwegian Romundstad.

On the MiniTrans, Romain Vandel from the Jura Massif for the men and Célia Bourgeois for the women got the victory.

Sunday is the time for the traditionnal Transjurassienne… 2779 skiers dispatched on the different start lines in La Combe du Lac. -10°C and a sun that is already shining in the early hours of the day. The racers are looking forward to go on the 50km course and to join Prémanon.

The whole race was fast. A group of 12 competitors, led by the two local favorites Alexandre Rousselet and Manu Jonnier, run the first 36km in close ranks. Some of them gave up later when Manu accelerated in la Sambine. They were only 7 left at the finish line in Prémanon … What a fight ! The Italian Marco Cattaneo wins this 30th edition. The second place is won by Matthias Fredriksson, bib N°1 who participated in La Transjurassienne for the 2nd time. Surprise for the 3rd place … the finish photo proved it, Diego Ruiz wins the podium.

With the objective of winning the FIS Marathon Cup 2008,Tatjana Jambaeva had great ambitions … A quiet race: right from the start, the Russian hooked to a group of Men Elite, far ahead of the Women’s grpup. She finishes N°1 in La Transjurassienne 2008 and remains first in the FIS ranking. She crosses the line alone, 4 minutes ahead of her competitors.

The second Karine Philippot gets her revenge. She was very disappointed in 2000 when she finished far behind! Cheered on by numerous spectators who know of her Franche-Comté background.

In 3rd position, comes the swiss Natascia Leonardi Cortesi. Jenny Hansson arrives 4th, Gaëtane Perret and Christelle Jouille from Franche-Comté finish 5th and 6th place.

Some particularly courageous skiers participated both to La Transju’Classic on Saturday and La Transjurassienne on Sunday !

100km in 2 days & a specific ranking won by Stanislav Rezac (CZE).
